Welcome. This blog is developed by the Advocacy Committee of the Writers Guild of Alberta. The Advocacy Committee works to establish lines of communication with the membership to identify areas of concern. We convey these to the WGA Board. We identify policies and practices by local, provincial and federal governments or other organizations that impact the membership and we communicate these to the membership. Where appropriate, we review and evaluate such policies and practices. We articulate positions on key issues and report to the WGA Board. We communicate or partner with governmental and non-governmental organizations to nurture the development of writers in Alberta. And we work to make public and where possible enhance the benefits that Alberta writers bring to individual members of the public and to society at large.
